This is one of my more ridiculous songs. Watch me sing it and then try to ineffectually explain why it’s funny! Because that’s exactly how you make things funnier, right?
Also in My Talented Brother news: I convinced him to make a video of my favorite of his songs. It’s bloody hilarious is what it is. Please to watch it.
Check this out, my fellows. My insanely talented little brother is offering to essentially do private shows in your home for nothing more than a meal. You’d normally have to bid $500+ on your favorite artist’s Kickstarter for that sort of privilege!
I can vouch that he is a very talented performer, polite and tidy, and will eat virtually anything. If you live in a place that is reasonably busable from Ballard, you should take him the hell up on this.
Hey everybody! I’m writing here to propose something to The Internet at large.
This year has been an exciting one here at Aaron J. Shay Artistic Productions, Incorporated. As you may know, I’ve not only been working on a new EP, but also a chapbook with an accompanying audiobook, and as always,…
Murray Gold giving us a taste of the South, playing the Doctor Who theme on the slide.
OH MY GOD
Yes. This.
I have completely failed at Masters of Song Fu so far this year. This video is my punishment.
Last summer, I was so fortunate as to be in the band for a live production of a classic Star Trek episode, “This Side of Paradise.” Hello Earth Productions puts on a show every summer in a Seattle park, free to the public. This video has me in the house band, The Redshirts, performing the classic theme song.
Just a few weeks ago, we were invited to perform our show again, at the Emerald City Comic Con. If you’re planning to attend, come see us on Friday or Sunday! (Check the programming page for more details).
UPDATE: Tragically, the show has been canceled. As a consolation prize, please enjoy this ridiculous photo of me and my brother after the show last summer.

A ukulele cover of Rancid’s “Olympia, WA,” styled somewhat after a cover by Hank and Katherine Green.
I just stayed up way past my bedtime to get this video all squared away, so please make me feel better about my poor life choices by watching/liking/subscribing/reblogging as you see fit.
If you were one of the unfortunate 11 to see the old version of this video before I took it down, I apologize. This one is much better.
For Townes Van Zandt’s birthday I sang “Snow Don’t Fall”.
Noah Segan, ladies and gentlemen. Gentleman, scholar, Townes Van Zandt-appreciator. I would not object to having an mp3 of this.
I would like a semi-accurate count of whether or not I am crazy for liking these people. Sooo…like it if you like it.
You’re not crazy, Hank. You’re a man of exquisite taste and rare judgment.
The video is awesomely weird and weirdly awesome, and the song is lovely. I’m not entirely certain they suit each other, but I’m just glad they both exist.
As if I didn’t have enough on my plate with recording an album and booking a ukulele show and working on a solo project and starting a second band, I’ve got a new piece of braincrack.
I want to create a Nerdfighter Songbook.
This would be a collection of songs that Nerdfighters love, with lyrics and chords, to facilitate jam/session/singalongs at Nerdfighter gatherings. I’m thinking I’d create a PDF for people to download and print out themselves, but if enough people take an interest in the project, physical copies could be a possibility (providing cooperation from DFTBA and the involved artists, of course).
But first, what I need is information! There’s no point in making a songbook if it’s not full of songs Nerdfighters want most, and the first step is to narrow the field to artists. Please take the following survey and include your voice in this process!
